TrugTrug was the COOLEST blue troll ever! He loved to dance, sing, and make everyone happy![1]
The Story so Far[]
TrugTrug's story was structured in arcs as the plotlines developed naturally within the gameplay.
- Introductory Arc: This is where the story of TrugTrug and his friend Parkzer begins. We are introduced to their homoerotic relationship and how Parkzer stops it from getting further, the subtle racism between Orcs and Trolls and other important aspects that we will carry with us for the rest of the story.
Adoption Saga[]
- Crabzer Arc: The Crabzer Arc is named after the crab Crabzer, who was adopted by Parkzer and briefly was a third member of the main team. Initially Parkzer was overprotective of his son and got offended easily when TrugTrug criticized it, but they grew into a family... for a short while.
- Post-Crabzer Arc: Crabzer tragically dies and tension arises between TrugTrug and Parkzer, leading to repeated mutings of the audio on Parkzer's side. This Arc explores their relationship further as they have to make amends to each other while both are grieving.
- New Children Arc: This Arc explores the trials of various other pets as a replacement for Crabzer. After two shortly lived attempts at crocodiles a raptor named Rapzer joins the team for good.
Gonko Saga[]
- Gonko's Missives Arc: A minor character only briefly introduced in previous arcs, Gonko is a troll that only says "GONKO!" while staring at a wall in Orgrimmar, revealed not to be a bot by expressing sadness at the death of crabzer. Following TrugTrug and Parkzer's adventures in Skull Rock, Gonko sent a missive, by way of the Tauren prophet Mezby, to TrugTrug to come to meet her in the Cleft of Shadow. After TrugTrug and Parkzer made it to her favorite wall, they only found another missive from Gonko's Tauren prophet, telling them that she had traveled to the dangerous jungles of Stranglethorn Vale. TrugTrug feared the worst, knowing the risks of the dangerous jungles, but still decided to make the journey anyway. He was joined by a number of minor recurring characters such as Slog, Orcadontis, and others. There, the group found no sign of the missing Gonko, and each poured a drink into the ocean in mourning. The next day, after TrugTrug's discovery of the "FOR GONKO" Guild, he heard Gonko's yells while doing quests. He later returned to Orgrimmar to find Gonko right where they left her, still yelling Gonko, and her guild of worshippers joined in.
- Cult Arc: In the wake of Gonko's disappearance, a cult known as the Guardians of Gonko was formed (as the "FOR GONKO" guild) following her teachings, seemingly led by the Orc Slog. (See more on the cult members by clicking here) However, there is also a second and more radical sect that is currently unnamed. The Guardians of Gonko asked TrugTrug to become their leader, as Gonko spoke well of him and his actions. TrugTrug agreed to this leadership role, but this choice quickly brought danger, as the other nameless sect has turned out to lean into more violent tendencies, unlike the peaceful, almost worshipful demeanor of the Guardians of Gonko. Coincidentally, the nameless sect's hideouts always matched where TrugTrug was already supposed to go for quests or farming, harassing and threatening him throughout his early journey.
- Preacher Arc: After battling through the caves of Ragefire Chasm alongside fellow OnlyFangs members, TrugTrug was met by a contingent of the Guardians of Gonko outside of the perilous dungeon. The group, spearheaded once again by Slog and Mezby, delivered a message to TrugTrug imploring him to become stronger and more prepared before continuing his journey into the Barrens to confront the dangers within the Wailing Caverns. Amidst this conversation, TrugTrug heard voice of Gonko and he, along with the gathered Guardians of Gonko, returned to Gonko's wall to find that she had indeed returned from her journey to Stranglethorn Vale. As many believers gathered around Gonko, TrugTrug knelt and asked her to give him a quest. She replied with "GONKO!". Immediately understanding the intent of the message, TrugTrug then declared "I shall venture out into world and spread your gospel!" before returning to the Barrens to continue his quest alongside Parkzer.
Holy Journey to the Wailing Caverns Saga[]
- Guardians of Gonko Arc: As TrugTrug and Parkzer continued to gather strength and resources to prepare for the upcoming challenges within the Wailing Caverns, they were often set upon by followers of Gonko. The most apparent of these events occurred while TrugTrug and Parkzer were dealing with an infestation of harpies in the Northern Barrens, during which a group of over ten followers of Gonko (dubbed Gonkolites by TrugTrug) led by Slog surrounded TrugTrug to continuously shout "GONKO!". TrugTrug, of course, mirrored their devotion, and shouted alongside them. The prophet Mezby was strangely absent from this confrontation.
- Crossroads Prophecy Arc: Upon arriving back in the Crossroads, TrugTrug was once again met by followers of Gonko, this time barring his path into the town by standing in a line across the road. At the front of this contingent was the prophet Mezby, having since returned from his disappearance. The group delivered well wishes, and a reminder from Gonko to TrugTrug to make sure that he was well equipped and prepared to face the dangers of the Wailing Caverns by having as powerful of a stick as possible. The group then walked into the distance and allowed TrugTrug to pass.
- Parkzer's Appointment Arc: TrugTrug met the Gonkolites once again in the Crossroads and was greeted with grim news. A bloody battle with the other sect had taken place and many had fallen, Orcadontis, Parkzer's dentist, barely survived the battle and will be out of action for a while, but he left a message for Parkzer to meet him for a checkup at Bloodhoof Village. Just outside the Crossroads they met an orc named Deedgenus that got them in on a plot to open the sewage in the Undead capital (Undead are currently in the horde but were previously in the alliance). Perhaps due to the shock of Orcadontis' near-death experience Parkzer seemed controlled by spirits during this confrontation and kept talking about things like "Twitch" or "Diet Coke" which both TrugTrug and Deedgenus found nonsense.
- Shadow of Orcadontis Arc: On their way they met an old troll claiming to be Gonko's Husband. He tried warning the team of something, but got killed before getting the full message across. All we know is that something dark is afoot and "It all comes down to Mulgore. Orcadontis. There is a grand scheme." Leading to speculation Orcadontis might be a traitor and his invitation to Bloodhoof might be a trap. In the wake of distrust an injured Orcadontis reaches the team personally even in his state. He performs a last oral checkup on Parkzer and starts dying happily while doing what he loved. With the blessing of Gonko TrugTrug performs a miracle and revives Orcadontis. It remains to be seen if this power was used wisely, given Gonko's husband's warning.
Final Saga[]
- Wolf Preparation Arc: Upon reaching level 20, TrugTrug returns to Orgrimmar to prepare for upcoming the Wailing Caverns dungeon. While there, TrugTrug once again runs into Gonko (now level 10) at her typical location, yelling "GONKO!" as she always does. This time, Gonko provides TrugTrug with a red linen shirt, crafted by her as a sign of good will and protect him on his upcoming quest. TrugTrug refuses the offer due to his current tribe's rules, which most likely hurt her feelings as she immediately cries out "GONKO!" Afterward, TrugTrug returns to his class trainer to learn new advanced shamanic spells, including the ability to turn himself into a wolf. Excited by his new ability and to showcase his new skill, TrugTrug returns to Gonko where he finds other Gonkolites now gathered, each donned in red linen shirts provided to them by Gonko. The gathered Gonkolites then teach TrugTrug how to dance while transformed as a wolf. As more Gonkolites continue to gather around Gonko to receive her blessing and shirts, TrugTrug leaves to retrieve a water totem to expand his abilities further without receiving her protection.
- The Incident Arc: After defeating hostile humans at Northwatch Hold, TrugTrug decided to test his durability by jumping off one of the towers and influenced Parkzer to do so as well. Thankfully, they survived by catching an outer wall of the tower and then went to retrieve stolen silver from a den of raptors nearby. On their way back to Rachet, TrugTrug decided to lead him and Parkzer through a camp of pirates, most likely composed of members of the evil sect hellbent on stopping their adventures, as a shortcut. In the hubris of the moment, TrugTrug begins to run past them, careless of the dangerous surroundings. Parkzer follows him slow as an orc, even more slowed down by talking to the spirits in his mind, also not noticing the trap they are running into. Just a step away from the Wailing Caverns, the evil sect has them cornered. While Trug is fast enough to run away, he comes back to help Parkzer who is already struggling to survive. Both of our heroes suffer heavy injuries and are forced to retreat by jumping off the cliff, hoping luck will be on their side. However, the fall mortally injures TrugTrug and Parkzer and they tragically succumb to their wounds. Coincidentally, Gonko had just jumped off a cliff too, perhaps due to grief of her husband's passing or from the rejection of her gift so nothing could save our heroes in time (it is unclear if she survived). Still, the Guardians of Gonko manage to contact TrugTrug beyond the grave and they tell him they will keep up their mission to spread Gonko's word and Rapzer survived, now under their wing.
Due to the hardcore element of the World of Warcraft series, a generational storytelling is employed (eg. The same narraive tool used in series like Jojo's Bizzare Adventures, where protagonists change but their goals are kind of connected). In this case, another troll named DougDug will take over TrugTrug's legacy.
Notable members of the Cult (The Guardians of Gonko):[]
- Mezby
The mysterious prophet of Gonko who often seeks out TrugTrug to share valuable news and messages. He generally shows up either alone in the wild, or sometimes backed up by other members of the Guardians of Gonko to deliver Gonko's message before slowly walking away.
- Slog
The Orc leader of the group known as the Guardians of Gonko. It is unknown if his role is greater than or equal to the prophet Mezby. Those who wish to join the ranks of the Guardians of Gonko have been instructed by TrugTrug himself to reach out to Slog.
- Mogthedog
A high ranking devotee and pastor of the Guardians of Gonko who often accompanies Slog on his adventures to spread the gospel of Gonko. He often educates and inspires others with sermons of Gonko’s word at inns and other gathering areas.
- Orcadontis
A passionate and well respected Orc dentist. He recently converted to the Guardians of Gonko after being miraculously healed by a potent dose of nitrous applied by TrugTrug (empowered by Gonko's word as proclaimed by members of the cult gathered there) during a dental checkup appointment for Parkzer.
